Rhys Webber's

Portography Project

I began my Portography project (photos of the 'port) in 2010 with the aim of capturing a photographic record of Newport and its inhabitants in the second decade of the new millenium. I liked the idea of providing future Newportians with a window into the past, and so set myself the task of building an archive of 2010 images.

I received some funding from Newport Council in 2010 and ran a series of photowalks in the city — inviting photographers of all levels to join me on walks around the city, sharing tips and gear.

The portraits here are the result of several sessions in different locations in the city, including Community House (Interfaith Community Centre), The Riverfront Arts Centre and Maindee Festival.

The Portography project is ongoing and will be added to in the near future. If you have a community event (or location) which attracts many Newportians and would like for me to set up a portable studio, then pleaseget in touch.

All images are available as prints on request.
